The village of Methven is within walking distance or two minutes by car. It has a Post Office and Shop, fish and chip/Chinese take-away, two public houses – the Methven Arms and the Bell Tree Inn - both of which serve food; Chatni - is a new fine dining Indian restaurant (opened November 2009) and is highly recommended. There is a garage for servicing. Methven also has a mini-supermarket and a park with children's play equipment and tennis courts.
Perth itself is 15 minutes by car and is an excellent shopping centre with a wide choice of shops and supermarkets. Perth also has a busy new concert hall, a museum, 2 art galleries, a theatre, a children's indoor theme park, an ice rink and leisure pool, which is always popular with our visitors. Gloagburn Farm Shop is on the way to Perth - one of the best in Scotland and well worth a visit.
Perth is Scotland's first Cittaslow town, with a really good selection of places to eat and buy food. There is a farmers' market on the first Saturday of every month full of the best local produce..
