A warm welcome awaits you at Cloag Farm where our family-run self catering cottages offer you the chance to enjoy the peace and quiet of the spectacular Perthshire countryside.
Cloag Farm is seven miles west of Perth, just north of Methven Village on the A85, and is ideally positioned for exploring Perthshire with its legacy of castles and historic sites. Cloag Farm produces oats for porridge, barley for whisky and beer, and some wheat. Cloag Farm was the birthplace of Robert Stirling, the inventor of the Stirling engine.
There is a huge range of things to see and do in Perthshire, with its rich legacy of castles, churches, battlefields and historic sites. It is a wonderful place for hill walking, whether you are a beginner or a real stalwart. There are countless different craft industries, making everything from whisky to glass paperweights, which can all be visited and sampled.
Golfers will appreciate the 37 golf courses within Perthshire itself. The modest green fees and the discovery that most courses are quiet, even in summer often pleasantly surprise our visitors.
Looking further afield, day trips to Edinburgh, Glasgow, St Andrews, Loch Ness and Glencoe are popular with all our visitors, many of whom return to visit us again.
So what's modern Scotland all about then? Here is a short tour.
January
January in Perthshire usually means frost snow, if only just in the hills some years. It is also a great month to wrap up and be out and about. The days are getting slightly longer.
January 25th is Burns Night and Pitlochry Theatre is putting on a big show with supper on the 24th. Also at the theatre, the Winter Words Festival starts on the 27th.
Perth Concert Hall has a varied programme in January, including the hebrides Ensemble, The Soldiers and a talk called Peoplequake.
Here is a little enigma: Exquisite paper sculputures have been appearing across Edinburgh. No-one knows why, or who is making them.
What's on when I will be visiting Perthshire?
